Usually, people consume it during their fasts or even use it as an ingredient in Indian cuisines or sweet dishes like kheer, raita or makhana cashew curry, and are also eaten as an evening tea-time snack. Many people in different regions of the country use these seeds as an offering to the Gods, especially during Navratri.

Best Tea Time Snack
Roasted Makhana – Tea Time Snack
Ingredients :
Makhana – 1 & 1/2cups
Ghee – 2 tsp
Spices:
Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Chat masala powder -1 tsp
Salt – to taste
Method :
- Add 2 tsp of ghee in a non-stick pan and add the makhana. Roast it till golden and crispy.
- Switch off the flame. Add all spices and toss it well.
- Cool down completely then store in airtight container.
- Enjoy with tea.
