Dates Raisins Chutney is a sweet sour chutney that goes well with chaats or any evening snacks. It is simple and quick chutney recipe made with dates, raisins, and spices. Dates are a good source of various vitamins and minerals. It’s also a good source of energy, sugar, and fiber. Essential minerals such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium and zinc can be found in dates.
Whereas raisins are made from dehydrated grapes; hence the nutrients become more concentrated in raisins. Raisins contain a good amount of potassium and magnesium & other nutrients.
Dates give perfect sweetness in this chutney and little sourness comes from raisins. I have added brown sugar to make chutney little sweet. You can replace the brown sugar with white sugar or jaggery.
Dates Raisins Chutney
Dates – 1 & 1/2 cup
Raisins – 1/2 cup
Brown sugar or Jaggery – 1/4 cup
Juice of one lemon
Roasted cumin seeds- 1 tsp

Soaked raisins in warm water for 1 hour and deseed dates.
Heat a deep nonstick pan and add soaked raisins, dates with 1 cup of water with all spices. Cook on medium flame for 10 minutes.
Switch off the flame and let it cool down to room temperature.
After 10 minutes transfer chutney into a grinder and make a smooth paste. Again put ground chutney into the same saucepan and add brown sugar or jaggery and cook on low flame for 10 minutes (string continuously).
Once chutney starts to thickens switch off the flame. Allow chutney to cool down and then add lemon juice and mix well.
*Lift chutney with a spatula and pour chutney, it should flow together and not in drops.
* Pour few drops of prepared chutney on a plate if it spreads then it’s not ready if it stays firm without moving then the chutney is ready.
* Allow to cool and store in sterilized glass jar.
*Keep chutney in the refrigerator after every use. Use a clean and dry spoon. It last long for 2 months.
