Holi Special – Sabudana or Sago Kheer

Sabudana Kheer is dessert which is made from sabudana or sago, milk, sugar and flavored with cardamom. This kheer generally made during fast. It is very easy and ready within 15 minutes (excluding soaking time).

Sabudana which is also known as sago. It is a good source of protein, which helps with muscle building, healing, and strengthening. Sabudana is rich in iron and calcium, which helps maintain bone health.

Natural Colors Sabudana Kheer in Four Ways:

-With White Sugar
-With Brown Sugar
-With Beetroot
-Sugarfree – With Mango

White Kheer – With White Sugar 

Ingredients for kheer:
Sabudana – 1/2 cup
Milk – 2 cups
White Sugar – 1/4 cup
Mix dry fruits – 1/4 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp

Method :

  1. Wash soaked sabudana with water and soak it for 4-5 hours or overnight in the water.
  2. Put soaked sabudana in a non-stick deep pan and put 1/2 cup of water. Cook for 2 minutes on medium flame.
  3. Now add milk and mix well. Stir the mixture continuously for 5 minutes on medium flame.
  4. Add dry fruits after 10 minutes.
  5. Once sabudana become transparent add sugar and cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Finally, add cardamom powder and mix well.
  7. White sabudana kheer is ready. Garnish with chopped dry fruits and serve hot or cold.

Saboodana Kheer with white sugar

Brown Kheer – With Brown Sugar 

Ingredients for kheer:
Sabudana – 1/2 cup
Milk – 2 cups
Brown Sugar – 1/4 cup
Mix dry fruits – 1/4 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp

Method :

  1. Wash soaked sabudana with water and soak it for 4-5 hours or overnight in the water.
  2. Put soaked sabudana in a non-stick deep pan and put 1/2 cup of water. Cook for 2 minutes on medium flame.
  3. Now add milk and mix well. Stir the mixture continuously for 5 minutes on medium flame.
  4. Add dry fruits after 10 minutes. Once sabudana become transparent add brown sugar and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Finally, add cardamom powder and mix well.
  6. Brown sabudana kheer is ready. Garnish with chopped almonds and served hot or cold.

Saboodana Kheer With Brown Sugar

Pink Kheer – With beetroot 

Ingredients:

Sabudana – 1/2 cup
Milk – 2 cups
Sugar – 1/4 cup
Mix dry fruits – 1/4 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp
Boiled and purée beetroot – 1/4 cup
Rose syrup – 1/2 tsp

Method:

  1. Wash Sabudana with water and soak it for 4-5 hours or overnight in the water.
  2. Put soaked sabudana in a non-stick deep pan and put 1/2 cup of water. Cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Now add milk and mix well. Stir the mixture continuously for 5 minutes on medium flame. Add dry fruits after 10 minutes.
  4. Once sabudana become transparent add beetroot purée and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Finally, add cardamom powder and mix well.
  6. Garnish with rose syrup.
  7. Sabudana Beetroot kheer is ready.

Beetroot Saboodana Kheer

Yellow Kheer – With Mango

Sabudana ( Sugarfree) With Mango

Ingredients:

Sabudana – 1/2 cup
Milk – 2 cups
Mix dry fruits – 1/4 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp
Mango puree – 1/2 cup
Few mango cubes and pomegranate pearls for garnishing.

Method  :

  1. Wash Sabudana with water and soak it for 4-5 hours or overnight in the water.
  2. Put soaked sabudana in a non-stick deep pan and put 1/2 cup of water. Cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Now add milk and mix well. Stir the mixture continuously for 5 minutes on medium flame.
  4. Add dry fruits after 10 minutes.
  5. Once sabudana become transparent add mango purée and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Finally, add cardamom powder and mix well.
  7. Sugarfree Sabudana kheer is ready. Serve hot or cool garnish with mango cubes and pomegranate pearls.
