Tangy Sweet Dip from fresh plums and cherry. It is yummy and very easy, quick. With very less amount sugar which makes it even more healthier. Plums help increase the absorption of iron into the body, which may be due to the fact that they are a good source of vitamin C.
Sweet cherries contain fiber, vitamin C. It adds little sweet sour taste in chutney.
It almost tastes like Raw mango chutney. You can have this relish with any kind of chaat or parathas.
Plum Cherry Relish
Plum deseeded – 8
Cherries deseeded – 12
Sugar – 1/4cup
Ginger Chopped – 1/2 inch
Cinnamon stick – 1 inch
Roasted cumin seeds powder – 1/4 tsp
Black pepper – 1/4 tsp
Juice of one lemon
Salt to taste
- Put plum, cherries, ginger, cinnamon stick in a deep nonstick pan with 1/8 cup of water. Boil it for 15 minutes.
- Mash the boiled plum and cherries with a potato masher. Add sugar, lemon juice and cook until sugar dissolves.
- Add roasted cumin seeds powder, black pepper, and salt. Cook for another 10 minutes.
- Transfer chutney into a clean dry glass jar. A yummy tangy dip is ready.
*If plum is too sour add more sugar ( 1/2 cup ).
*If plum is sweet then add less sugar (4 tbsp).
